Over 12-K get jabs on Day 2 of `Bayanihan Bakunahan 3′ in Davao City

At least 12,188 Dabawenyos availed of primary and booster doses after Day 2 of the National Vaccination Days (NVD) Part 3, also known as “Bayanihan Bakunahan 3”, in Davao City as of February 11, 2022.

The Vaccination Cluster Team, during a meeting of the Davao City COVID-19 Task Force on Monday, February 14, 2022, reported that 6,526 were jabbed in the city on the second day of the nationwide vaccination rollout campaign held on February 11, 2022.

Of the 6,526, at least 676 received their first doses, 2,864 got their second jabs, and 2,984 were given booster shots.

On the first day of the “Bayanihan Bakunahan 3” held on February 10, on the other hand, a total of 5,662 were inoculated with the first doses of the anti-COVID-19 vaccines while 2,844 were given second doses, and 2,200 had booster shots.

The Davao City COVID-19 Task Force noted the unusually low turnout of vaccinees during the first two days of the “Bayanihan Bakunahan 3.”

But since the Department of Health (DOH), through the National Vaccination Operations Center (NVOC), has extended the NVD 3 until February 18, Davao City COVID-19 Task Force Spokesperson Dr. Michelle Schlosser said it is a good opportunity to encourage more people to get their booster doses.

“Atong ginapaspasan ang atoang pagpa-booster kay ubay-ubay naman pud atong mga fully vaccinated individuals (We are fast-tracking our booster rollout since we have a lot of fully vaccinated individuals),” she said in a recent Bida Bakunado program of 87.5 FM Davao City Disaster Radio (DCDR).

The city health official urged Dabawenyos who got their full doses to go to their nearest vaccination hubs for their booster doses as their mostly preferred COVID-19 vaccine brands are currently available.

The Crocodile Park drive-thru and People’s Park vaccination hubs have also been opened on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. to cater to all vaccinees who can’t leave their jobs on weekdays. All vaccination sites are open for walk-ins who might need the first, second, or booster doses.

She added, “Wala ta kabalo kanus-a napud mag evolve ang virus, magkaroon napud ta og bag-ong variants and we can’t afford to have another surge. At least kung maabot man ang new variants fully boostered atong mga tao ug atoang komunidad (We don’t know when the virus would evolve or when new variants will emerge and we can’t afford to have another surge. At least when new variants come, Dabawenyos and our communities are fully boostered).”

Meanwhile, the Vaccination Cluster Team bared that DOH’s target for Davao City for the nine-day “Bayanihan Bakunahan 3” is 12,588 for primary doses and 119,677 for booster jabs.

As of February 11, Davao City was at 85.14 percent (1,292,623) in administering the first doses and 83.31 percent (1,264,857) for second doses based on 80 percent of the city’s total population.

The 80 percent of Davao City’s 2022 population is 1,518,288.

Of the 1,264,857 fully vaccinated individuals, only 15.26 percent (192,995) received their booster shots.CIO
