THE City Government of Davao through the Sangguniang Panlungsod Mobile Vaccination Program has administered anti-Covid vaccination to more inmates or Persons Deprived of Liberty at the Davao City Jail (DCJ).
A total of 972 inmates at the Davao City Jail which consisted of three jails – Annex, Main (for male), and Ray of Hope (for female) received the first dose of AstraZeneca anti-Covid-19 vaccine on September 23, 2021. Of the total number vaccinated, 168 were women inmates, 107 are persons with comorbidities, and 13 were senior citizens.
Councilors Pamela Librado-Morata, whose team led the vaccination at the city jail, has planned to roll out the second dose for the inmates in December.
The number of vaccinees at the city jail forms part of the 87,874 Dabawenyos who received their first and second doses of the anti-Covid-19 vaccines since August through the SP-led mobile vaccination.
The SP-led mobile vaccination has also been covering individuals housed in facilities such as the senior citizens in home-care facilities. More members of the marginalized sector were also catered at People’s Park.
To this date, Davao City’s vaccinated individuals already totaled 836,662 for the first dose and 719,140 for the second dose.
The mobile vaccination is one of the city government’s initiatives in its thrust to reach herd immunity of 1.2 million by November. CIO
