The City Government of Davao is bracing for a possible surge of coronavirus disease cases due to an increase in mobility and private gatherings during the holidays and threats of the Omicron variant wave.
City Mayor Inday Sara Duterte in her special program on the Davao City Disaster Radio on Monday bared that an increase of the coronavirus disease case is foreseen around the 3rd or the 4th week of the month.
“Our Covid-Cluster Clinic is readying and then atong mga TTMF naga inventory sila karon kung unsa ang mga i-activate nato nga mga TTMF. Duna na tay guide in the event of a surge kung hangtod asa ta magsugod sa atong TTMF, and magsugod sa atoang home isolation. Naga ready na pud ta og coordination sa atoang private hospitals for those who will be needing hospitalization and medical attention (Our COVID-19- Cluster Clinic is readying and inventory is ongoing to identify which Temporary Treatment Facilities (TTMF) will be opened. We have a guide on what time the TTMFs will be opened and when will our home isolation will start in the event of a surge. We are also getting ready with our coordination with the private hospitals for those who will be needing hospitalization and medical attention),” the mayor said.
She said that the city will still follow the Prevention, Detection, Isolation, Treatment, Reintegration, and the Management of the Dead as previously practiced as a response to the Covid-19.
The mayor also mentioned the CCC or Covid-19 Cluster Clinic which offers 24-hour assistance to Covid-19 concerns and provides free swabbing, contact tracing, consultation, medicine, swab test, quarantine, and isolation. The first CCC is currently located at Doña Vicenta Village in Bajada.
While the surge is of great concern as it can heavily take a toll on the healthcare system, the city mayor said that the public can help avoid this through availing of anti-Covid-19 vaccines and booster shots in the earliest possible time.
“Ang surge will only be very dangerous kung daghan ang maging severe and maging critical kasi ang problema sa pandemic is ang healthcare and healthcare facilities and ang burden sa health care personnel. Importante ang magpabakuna and magpabooster because studies have shown that ang bakuna and ang booster shot will make the symptoms milder therefore dili ka manginahangalan og hospital (The surge will be very dangerous if there will be severe and critical cases because the main problem in a pandemic is the health care and the health care facilities. The burden is on the health care personnel. It is important that we get vaccinated and booster dose because studies have shown that the vaccines and booster shot will make the symptoms milder so that you won’t need to go to the hospital),” the mayor said.
Mayor Sara urged Dabawenyos to get the anti-Covid booster shots at the district vaccination sites where the first, second, and pediatric anti-covid-19 vaccines are being administered. The health teams have been instructed to set up lanes for booster shots for all categories 18 years old and above and have received two doses of the anti-Covid vaccines.
“Get your booster now. Ayaw na pamili og brand. It has to be today. It’s very urgent nga magpabooster na ang kadtong mga naka two doses na nga vaccine and more than three months na ang inyuhang second dose, pwede namo according to DOH nga mukuha sa inyuhang booster (Get your booster now. Do not choose brands. It has to be today. It’s very urgent that those who have already availed the second doses and those who had it more than three to avail booster doses since it is already allowed according to DOH),” the mayor said. CIO
