The City Government of Davao, through the Vaccine Cluster of Davao COVID-19 Task Force, has administered first jabs to 16,811 pediatric vaccinees as of November 14, 2021.
Davao City Mayor Inday Sara Duterte, during the Special Hours program aired over 87.5 Davao City Disaster Radio on November 15, said the Vaccine Cluster reported 1,743 pediatric vaccinees with comorbidities while 15,068 from the general population of 12 to 17 years old received their first doses.
She, however, said the total pediatric population in the city has not yet been determined. But the City Planning and Development Office (CPDO), according to her, can compute projections based on the previous census.
The mayor said the official census of the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) has no breakdown of age groups.
Meanwhile, Davao COVID-19 Task Force Dr. Michelle Schlosser, during DCDR’s COVID-19 Alert program on November 17, said,
“Nag-open pa ta og daghang CHO-managed (We have opened more City Health Office-managed) vaccination for pediatric population or age group para daghan pa atong ma accommodate na (so we can accommodate more) pediatric vaccinees. Good atong reception, ubay-ubay pud ang parents nagpabakuna sa ilang mga anak (We have a good reception from a lot of parents who had their children vaccinated).”
She said pediatric vaccination sites are now open for walk-ins. They just have to present a DQR and proof of age such as a birth certificate or school ID to validate that they are eligible for inoculation.
Dr. Schlosser also said preparations are being made to hold pediatric vaccinations at the People’s Park, which will cater to walk-ins from Monday to Saturday.
“We are opening pediatric vaccination sa (at) People’s Park. Dako man gud so daghang ma accommodate. Ginapreparahan pa na sya (It’s spacious and can accommodate more. That is still being prepared),” she said, adding that the park currently offers a lot of options for adult vaccinees, including a drive-thru.
The city health official said the Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP)-led mobile vaccinations, Bakuna Nights, door-to-door, and typical vaccination hubs are still ongoing for all priority groups.
She said, “Gihatag na tanan sa katawhan ang options para mas easier sa ila ang vaccination. Open ta tanan karon kinsa gusto magpabakuna (We are open to everyone who wants to get vaccinated).”
The Lanang Premiere Doctors Hospital also launched its COVID-19 Drive-Thru Vaccination project, in partnership with the City Government of Davao. To avail of this, online pre-registration is available at https://profiles.safe-davao.com.
Dr. Shlosser said Dabawenyos can check out the City Government of Davao Facebook page for schedules of operational vaccination sites, which is being updated every Monday. See here 👉 https://www.facebook.com/davaocitygov. CIO
