The Davao City government will boost its anti-Covid vaccination campaign by conducting a house-to-house vaccination drive to seek qualified unvaccinated individuals, especially the senior citizens who have mobility challenges to go to different jab sites.
Dr. Michelle Schlosser, the spokesperson of the Covid-19 Task Force, bared in an interview with the City Information Office on Tuesday, that the city government will seek out unvaccinated individuals through the Office of the Vice Mayor and the Liga ng Barangay in coordination with the barangay senior citizens association.
“If we need to do house to house, ang isa sa mga measures nato to be able to secure na makita nato ning senior citizens is mag coordinate sa ilahang mga association sa senior citizen sa barangay. Pangutan-on isa isa kung kinsa ang wala pa didto na vaccinate. Kadtong gusto magpavaccinate dili makalakaw kay bed ridden so we will be doing house to house pangitaon and i-house to house to senior citizen na wala pa na vaccinate (If we need to go house to house one of our measures is to coordinate with the association of senior citizens in the barangay. We would ask them who among them who are not yet vaccinated. Those who wants to be vaccinated but cannot walk or bed-ridden we will find them and conduct house-to-house vaccination),” Schlosser said.
She said that this is a more intensive plan to cater to senior citizens who are vulnerable and mostly with medical conditions. This is also on top of the SP-led vaccinations held in barangay and the public vaccinations.
“As much as we wanted before we really do not conduct house-to-house but this time, we are doing this to ensure that all of our vulnerable sectors will be covered,” Schlosser said.
The Office of the Vice Mayor Baste Duterte on Tuesday already issued guidelines on the door-to-door vaccination which can only be availed by bedridden senior citizens, persons with disabilities (PWDs), those who cannot move or walk to the fixed vaccination sites. Household members who can go out for the vaccines will not be catered to.
Eligible persons will have to send their personal information (full name, condition, address, and contact number) through text in these numbers: 0970) 274 7025 for SMART/TNT; (0995) 175 0064 for GLOBE.
The team from Vice Mayor’s Office will contact the applicants for screening and scheduling for the door-to-door vaccination. A single dose will be administered and doctors will also be present during the door-to-door vaccination for physical screening of individuals.
